Thriller Night Fall

Thriller Night Fall, by Nelson DeMille:

Was it really due to mechanical failure, or was it caused by a missile? I finally get the proof to blow this case sky high only to have it disappear in a puff of smoke on 9/11. We should have known. Now I do.
