Time travel is unpredictable. First it saves my life, then it kills me in literary novel THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE. But in between, it gives me, Chicago librarian Henry DeTamble, Clare. Six-year-old Clare, who believes my adult self when I tell her I’m unclothed because nothing comes with you when you time travel; who treads patiently through time to marry me when we’re in our twenties, and who suffers multiple miscarriages to give me a child. Though I may come and go and Clare grow old, our love does neither. Unlike us, it is timeless.
