Literary Women’s Fiction Lessons in Chemistry

Lessons in Chemistry, by Bonnie Garmus

In 1961, California chemist and single mother Elizabeth Zott leaves her chemical research job to host a TV cooking show to better support her four-year-old daughter. But once a chemist, always a chemist, and soon Zott has her audience of housewives taking notes on the chemical reaction between acetic acid and baking soda in literary novel LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY. The show gets syndicated, and with Zott’s encouragement, women across America begin to pursue careers in science, allowing Zott to return to her own scientific research in her home-based lab, ably assisted by her specially trained dog and genius daughter.
