Heat Lightning, by John Sandford
When bodies keep turning up at Minnesota war memorials in series police thriller HEAT LIGHTNING, Detective Virgil Flowers races across the prairie to stop a serial killer. Virgil soon learns that the killer has a list, the list relates to the Vietnam War, and those on the list all too soon exit this world with a lemon-stuffed mouth. An old antiwar professor and a young Vietnamese woman keep Virgil dancing as he crosses state lines to apprehend the killer before the last man is down.
