The Drop, by Michael Connelly
LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch refuses to neglect his cold case assignment as instructed when handed a “high jingo” likely suicide in series police procedural THE DROP. Parrying nefarious activities that threaten to undermine his investigations, both from within and outside the department , Harry resolves the suicide case and follows a new lead concerning the twenty-two-year-old murder of a female college student, resulting in the arrest of a serial killer who proudly admits to thirty-seven murders. It’s a tough case to stomach but changes Harry’s mind about retiring. This, he remembers, is why we do this.
