A Slice of Moon, by J.S. Lavallee:
An eighteenth-century escaped slave finds hope, friends, and adventure in St. Augustine, Florida, as she journeys toward freedom and her true love in historical novella A SLICE OF MOON. Kindly white settlers aid sixteen-year-old Maya in her search for Rafe, a freed slave now living in a nearby Seminole village, while bounty hunters plot to destroy her dreams. Eyota, a young Seminole woman, sets aside her own feelings for Rafe to help him rescue Maya. Soon the two former slaves are married, bringing great joy to their friends and leaving Eyota to turn her attention toward another of Maya’s rescuers.
