Lesser Evils, by Joe Flanagan:
The seamy side of Cape Code rises to the surface in 1957 Hyannis when a sexual predator murders little boys in crime novel LESSER EVILS. Single-father acting police chief Bill Warren jumps on the case only to be stymied when Boston police detective Dale Stasiak takes over the investigation. Immune to corruption, Warren is passed over for police chief and resigns, but that doesn’t stop him from uncovering mob-related activities, Stasiak’s criminal connection, and the serial killer. Thanks to a homosexual couple, a mysterious priest, and his own efforts, life then improves for Warren and his son.
