Crusader’s Cross, by James Lee Burke
A deathbed confession leads Louisiana bayou detective Dave Robicheaux to investigate the thirty-year-old abduction of young prostitute Ida Durbin, who saved him and his brother from sharks in the summer of 1958. Murders surrounding Robicheaux and his investigation spur him to link New Iberia’s patriarch family to those murders, Ida’s earlier abduction, and a current Baton Rouge serial killer in series crime novel CRUSADER’S CROSS. Not until his new wife is in the hands of the killer does Robicheaux connect all the clues, put the criminal out of commission, and rescue his bride.
